Q_Safety

QS Safety Controller

The "MELSEC-QS Safety programmable controller" is designed for safety control, compliant to the international safety standards EN954-1 Category 4, ISO13849-1 PL e, and IEC61508 (JIS C 0508) SIL 3.*1 The QS can be connected to an emergency stop switch, a light curtain, etc., to shut off (safety output OFF) the power of hazard sources (robots etc.) according to user programs. Operation of machines (robots, conveyors, etc.) is controlled by standard programmable controllers. The major difference is that the QS is equipped with a safety function which can forcibly turn off the safety output by error diagnostics.

This compact new safety controller complies with ISO13849-1 PLe and IEC61508 SIL3 safety standards.
The most suitable application of MELSEC-WS is to ensure safe operation of stand-alone machines or systems.  To meet your system configuration, it allows you to have additional I/O points of up to 144. Also, you can easily make settings and create logic by using the Setting and Monitoring Tool exclusively provided for the controller.

The safety relay module embeds a safety circuit that complies with safety standards "EN954-1 Category 4 and ISO13849-1 PL e."  With this module, a basic safety function is available by just wiring, without the need for programming.

AC Servo Safety

The MR-J3-B Safety integrated AC servo amplifier (SSCNETIII compatible) and MR-J3-D05 safety logic unit are certified for IEC/EN 61508 SIL 2, EN 62061 SIL CL 2 and EN ISO 13849-1 PL d (Category 3) by a Certification Body (TÜV Rheinland). As a safety function, the MR-J3-B Safety has an integrated Safe torque off (STO) function. Safe stop 1 (SS1) function can be achieved by combining the MR-J3-B Safety amplifier with the MR-J3-D05 safety logic unit. These functions contribute to improvement of safety in the user's system, making it easy to obtain third-party certifications. If an MR-J3-B or MR-J3-B-R006 amplifier is currently used in a system, it can be easily replaced by the MR-J3-B Safety because it uses the same cables/connectors and contains the fully closed loop control system.

The D700 and E700-SC Adjustable Frequency AC Drive Families are suitable for Emergency Stop according to EN 60204-1, Stop Category 0 within safety related applications according to EN 954-1 up to Safety Category 3.  The drive must be connected to a pre-approved Category 3 external safety device such as a Safety Relay. Incorporating the Safe Off Torque inputs into the drive allows for the removal of magnetic contactors between the drive and motor.
